Maybe there’s something you’re afraid to say, or someone you’re afraid to love, or somewhere you’re afraid to go. It’s gonna hurt. It’s gonna hurt because it matters.

The best anti-aging regimen.
If you are 31 and starting to feel the weight of gravity, just go back to college! All those 19-year-olds will know you’re older than they are, but they’ll just assume you’re 23. Once they find out you’ve been married for six years, you can actually see their heads exploding. Then, just sit back and bathe in the shower of compliments that are raining down upon you.

People’s Sexiest Man Alive - The Men of Parks and Recreation

Leslie Knope is probably the best feminist character on television right now, and I think that Parks and Recreation is one of the best feminist shows, ever. Even a show like 30 Rock irritates me, as Liz Lemon is framed as the only competent woman in the entire department, who needs a male mentor like Jack to get her through hard times, teach her how to appeal to men, and help with with dating, sex, and her career. The youngest female member of 30 Rock, Suri, is an emblem of traditional sexism: she is beautiful and young, and therefore equated with being stupid, ditzy, and incompetent. Do women like Suri actually exist? Contrarily, on Parks & Recreation we have the young female character April, a monotone, unenthusiastic, smart girl who hates everybody. While Ron Swanson is certainly her mentor (as they see life through a similar lens), Leslie is also a strong female role model for her. April is funny, and with her character, the writers break away from the too-easy trap of constructing pretty young girls as idiots. In fact, there is not one stereotypical female character on Parks & Rec. Even the lead male character Ron Swanson identifies as a feminist. Of course, in the first season Leslie’s character was written as a bit of an irrational space cadet who couldn’t get a man, but as the show has developed and improved, her character has grown increasingly complex and real.
FUCK YEAH PARKS AND REC!
I never put this together, I love Parks and Rec and other than Alec Baldwin, I don’t really care for 30 Rock, but yeah it’s obvious now. Alison has brought this up a before (and other important points) and I couldn’t agree more. We need more Leslie Knopes and Alisons and Whoever Runs The Tumblr I Just Rebloggeds.

And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter— they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long.

Bishop Allen - Flight 180
If you feel like dancing…dance with me.
Just put on my Queen of Soul undies (yes, they literally say “Queen of Soul”) and I am going to go ahead and dance the shit outta this day. It has been awful and I am ready to move on from it.
